Yesterday, the Province announced that it would accelerate the move to fewer COVID restrictions with the start of Step 1 this Friday. As such, we can start the evening walks with the first one occurring on Monday, June 14. The opening at Step 1 still limits the number of participants at outdoor events to 10. This means nine participants in addition to the leader.
The planned event for that evening is at Creek Path Woods just west of Bronte so we would give preferential involvement to members of the South Peel Club. The following week (June 21) is slated for the Morden Neilson Park in Georgetown and is therefore most-relevant to the Halton/North Peel club.
In order to manage numbers, we will ask for would-be participants to contact Bill McIlveen (email@example.com) ASAP to register your intention. We will accept participants on a first-come, first served basis.
The meeting spot for the June 14 event is at Shell Park, west of Bronte. Meet at the parking lot near the washrooms at north end of Shell Park near the soccer fields. If the road to the north parking area has not been opened for some reason, then park at the lot nearest Lakeshore Road.
If conditions improve, the restrictions will lift three weeks later and we can increase the participant numbers to 25. At that time, the evening walks will be back to a normal pattern in July. We will keep everyone informed.
